- Never plug in an electrical device where it could fall into the water. Modern bathroom receptacles have ground fault circuit interrupters (GFCI) to help prevent electrocution, but the safest practice is to keep plugged-in devices away from water.
- If there are small children in the home, keep the bathroom door locked from the outside at all times. It’s easy to install a deadbolt high on the door that only adults can reach. This safety tip prevents children from wandering into the bathroom alone where they could get hurt or even sometimes drown.
- Mop or dry up standing water. Puddles can lead to slips and falls and increase the risk of electrocution.
