home warranty FAQs

Most people don’t think twice about their plumbing—until something acts up. Maybe it’s a dripping faucet, a toilet that gurgles, or a setting on your water heater you’ve never touched. Whatever it is, chances are we’ve seen it before.

At My Georgia Plumber, we’ve been helping folks around Canton figure this stuff out for years. Here are a few questions we get all the time—and some honest answers to help you sort things out.

“My faucet won’t stop dripping. Is that a big deal?”

It might not look like much, but that steady drip adds up. Over time, it can waste a lot more water than you’d think—and you’ll see it on your bill.

What’s going on:
It’s usually a worn-out washer or cartridge inside the faucet. Happens with age or hard water. Nothing unusual.

What to do:
If you’re comfortable taking it apart, you can replace the part yourself. If not, we’ll take care of it. If the fixture’s old or leaking from more than one spot, sometimes it’s smarter just to replace the whole thing.

“Why does my toilet bubble when I turn on the shower?”

That gurgling noise? It’s not just strange—it means something’s off in your drain line.

Why does it happen?
When your plumbing doesn’t have enough airflow—usually due to a partial clog or a blocked vent—it pulls air from wherever it can. Sometimes, that’s through the toilet.

What now:
If it only happened once, you’re probably fine. But if it keeps happening, give us a call. We’ll run a camera through the line and check for trouble before it turns into a backup.

“What’s vacation mode on my water heater for?”

Good question—and it’s one we wish more folks asked.

Here’s the deal:
If you’re heading out of town, there’s no need to keep your water heater running full blast. That “vacation” setting turns the temp down to a low level—just enough to keep it from freezing, but not heating water you’re not using.

Why it matters:
It saves energy while you’re away and helps your water heater last longer. Just switch it back to normal when you get home, and you’ll have hot water again in no time.
