The preference for gas or electric dryers varies from family to family. Sometimes plumbers are called out to a home to cap off the gas line when a customer switches to an electric dryer. Other times, the call is from a customer wanting to install a gas line for a new gas dryer.
Part of your annual maintenance should include checking all gas lines and connections to make sure they are tight and not leaking. The lint trap should also be checked regularly with any dryer – gas or electric – making sure the dryer vent is not obstructed with lint because this can cause the dryer to overheat and create a fire hazard.
As with any gas appliance or gas line, if you smell gas near your dryer, turn off the gas – or better yet leave the home and get the gas company to turn the gas off for you. Then call My Georgia Plumber to locate and repair the leak. We can make your home safe again quickly and cost-effectively.
